Jesus, I TRUST in you!

Hello friends,

After a week of writing about the divine mercy I said I’d continue the theme and write today about trust!

The graces of My mercy are drawn by means of one vessel only, and that is — trust. The more a soul trusts, the more it will receive (1578).

So then, how can we increase our trust in Jesus?

Simple! How do you decide what doctor to go to or what school to send your kids?

You read up about them and you visit them!

And so it’s the same with Jesus! We can read about Jesus in the Bible and in the lives of the saints and in hearing what He has done for other people through testimonies!

We can then go to visit Him regularly in the church and ideally at the Blessed Sacrament and let the journey begin!

Trust is something that grows. Personally I’d like to trust Jesus far more than I do and yet He works with me as I am!

Like any area of our lives where we want to grow. It will not be easy!

Think of learning to drive or learning a foreign language or joining the gym. It takes a lot of hard work and it will stretch you.

It’s when we are being stretched and tested that our trust grows even more. It’s like your personal trainer suddenly increased all the weights you have been lifting at the gym and you come home exhausted and maybe discouraged when in fact you are doing so well that you were ready to go onto the next level!!

So you see, when Jesus is testing you, He is not being mean, the opposite! He is growing you so that your spiritual muscles of faith and trust will be even stronger!

So how does He do this?

HE will do this by putting dilemmas in front of us and calling us to trust! Numerous times I have personally found myself in foreign countries with less than €10 to survive and inside in my heart I’d hear the whisper ‘trust’.

Inevitably it always worked out but my moaning and groaning and complaining showed me that I was still a long way from trusting fully!

Similarly with you. You might be there praying for your kids and family and after 20 years the only thing you have to show for it is wrinkles on your face from worry!

And yet what does Jesus say? Trust! He is growing your faith on the inside by not letting you see the fruits on the outside!

And so today, I suggest that we all make a new and wild act of trust in the ocean of His mercy and we tell all discouragement and negative thinking to go!

So say it with me!

JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU!

Divine merci!

Good morning!

This morning I could not help but smile at the 2 words; mercy and merci!

Merci is if course the french word for thanks and what could we be more thankful for to God than for his mercy!

So yes indeed, merci mercy!!

This week we saw that

1. Mercy is for everybody

2. We are to keep coming to Jesus asking for more and more of His mercy for both ourselves and for others!

3. We must ask for big graces as a sign of our trust in Jesus’ power and love!

And so what better way to end the week than to thank Jesus for His mercy!

So take 5 or 10 minutes and reflect on what mercy has done in your life!

Think of the graces that you have received, the situations that have been resolved, the answers to prayer for other people that you have been praying for…..

There may also be some things or areas where you are still waiting. Satan will try to get you to focus on these to discourage you and reduce your trust! Remember what Jesus said about trust:

The graces of My mercy are drawn by means of one vessel only, and that is — trust. The more a soul trusts, the more it will receive (1578)

So be aware of Satan always trying to reduce your trust if He can’t destroy it fully!

And so back to the positive! Think of all the breakthroughs, all the healings, all the problems resolved and take a moment before Jesus and say ‘merci’!

Thank you Jesus for loving me, for your mercy for me, for being so patient with me. Thank you for every answer to prayer, for every grace, for every healing and for every friendship!

Thank you that you desire to fill my life to overflowing with your mercy and so here I come with nothing to offer you in thanks except my poor broken heart to love and console you!

And so I give you free permission to use my heart today as if it were yours and I say:
“O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus, as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You. (Diary, entry 84; cf. 309).

St. Faustina, pray for us!

More mercy!

The last few days I have been writing about God’s mercy. At this stage we have established that God’s overflowing mercy is for every single one of us every day!

So this little message is to encourage us to ask for more mercy!

I once met a man in Paris. He told me that he would only go to communion once per month as he wanted to “leave graces for others who needed them more”!

Obviously his intention was good but sadly his theology was false!

You see God’s mercy is infinite and so there is no fear of it running out like oil or some other human commodity!

Jesus desires us to ask him for so many graces that our hearts overflow with love and this supernatural love pours out on everyone we meet whether it is the butcher in the supermarket as we buy our meat or our neighbours or friends!

When a soul approaches Me with trust, I fill it with such an abundance of graces that it cannot contain them within itself, but radiates them to other souls (Diary, 1074).

So you see, Jesus is looking for channels or vessels of mercy and this is the essence of evangelization which will happen automatically as He fills us with a joy and love that we just can’t help but talk about wherever we go!

As a child in Ireland I would look up at the large wires that were used to carry electricity. Every now and then I’d see extra big ones and my dad explained to me that these were used to carry electricity at a higher voltage!

The same is true for God’s love and mercy! The more we trust in Jesus and the more space we give Him in our hearts, the more grace He can pour into us and the more grace we can in turn pour into others!

So you see, the more we open our hearts to Jesus, the better it is for everybody; for us, for Him and for those around us!

So today, think of where you are living, think of the neighbours, the shop-workers, the school teachers, the doctors and nurses, the postman etc. and say to Jesus:

“Lord, fill me with such love and mercy today that it may overflow on every single person that I come into contact with and that in seeing me they see you”!!

And so we say….”Jesus, I trust in you”!

Have a merciful day!

Mercy, mercy, mercy!

Good afternoon and I hope that you are doing well!

Today I decided to continue the theme of mercy thinking in particular of this message from Jesus to Sr Faustina:
I am offering people a vessel with which they are to keep coming for graces to the fountain of mercy. That vessel is this image with the signature: “Jesus, I trust in You” (327)

So Jesus wants us to keep coming to him because Jesus understands that we need His mercy every single day of our lives!

At times we associate mercy with big sinners such as drug addicts or prostitutes and we can feel that we don’t qualify because our lives seem half normal in comparison but the good news is that Jesus does not see it this way!

Jesus desires to bless everyone with gifts of mercy every day!

St Therese of the child Jesus was discouraged in her spiritual life after reading of Mary Magdelaine! Therese was sort of jealous of her!

Then Therese suddenly realised that God had even more mercy on Therese than on Mary Magdelaine. She realised that God gave her a wonderful mother and father and sisters and that this grace had saved her! Had she grown up under different circumstances, maybe she too would have been a prostitute!

It took profound humility for Therese to realise and understand this with her heart and it is no surprise that she later became both a saint and a doctor of the Church!

Saint Faustina whom Jesus Himself describes as misery itself wasn’t what we’d call a big sinner in today’s terms either and yet in Jesus’ eyes she was the weakest of the weak!!

And so this should encourage each one of us today to turn to Jesus for more mercy!

Whether you are a simple housewife at home struggling to trust Jesus fully with your kids or with forgiving somebody or whether you are a raving alcoholic, Jesus has mercy on both of you!

There is no misery too small that doesn’t attract Jesus’ mercy! All He wants is for us to come to Him with our problems with great trust!

So take a moment now and ask yourself what bothers you; where are you struggling?, what parts of your life do you find hard?

Even if they seem like silly things, don’t brush them away, if they matter to you then they matter to Jesus!

And now, with simple trust and faith bring each one of these things to Jesus.

“Jesus, I come to you with these things that are bothering me (now name them)

and now Jesus I ask for the grace for resolution of all these things believing that you can do it and that you love me!

And now, looking at Jesus say

“Jesus, I trust in you”

Continue to do this every day and even several times a day and like me, you will see miracles!

Bless you all

Michael

In french the word ‘mercy’ is ‘miséricorde’ and as I was introduced to this devotion mainly in France I will share a little of what I learnt there!

‘Misérocorde’ in french, ‘misericordia’ in italian and also ‘misericordia’ in spanish, ‘ misericórdia’ in portuguese.

(aplogies to all other languages ..God loves you too!!)

These languages have a common root in the latin language where the word is ‘misericordiae’!

I had the opportunity to study latin for a year in France, a wonderful language that made all my study of mathematics look easy in comparison!

Anyway, back to ‘misericordiae’.

‘Misericordiae’ is made of 2 words joined together: ‘miseria’ and ‘cor’.

‘Miseria’ means misery and ‘Cor’ means heart and so Mercy is the meeting place or man’s misery with God’s heart!
From Jesus to St. Faustina:

“My daughter, you have not offered Me that which is really yours…Daughter, give Me your misery, because it is your exclusive property.”

(Diary, 1318)

Jesus certainly has humour! Can you imagine going up to somebody and telling them that!!

Yet it is the truth! Every grace we get and every healing we receive are gifts from God and so are not our property! If we didn’t receive these graces perhaps we’d be worse than the worst of sinners! This is why Jesus calls us never to judge others less we fall into pride!

Jesus went onto tell Faustina

“If I were to reveal to you the whole misery that you are, you would die of terror. However, be aware of what you are. Because you are such great misery, I have revealed to you the whole ocean of My mercy.”

(Diary 718)

And so we see that the heart of God is drawn to the misery of man like a fly to the light! Not of course to leave a person in their misery but to bring them out of it!

There is no greater misery in God’s eyes than sin! God made human beings for communion with Him and so to see people cut off from God and prayer and steeped in today’s culture of death is indeed the greatest misery on earth!

Looking for love in the wrong places has drawn people to the summits of addictions and many have ended in suicide.

From drugs to sex to the occult the list is endless as people try to fill that inner thirst for love and peace in today’s world!

And yet as God looks on, His answer is mercy.

“It’s me, Jesus and my love that you are looking for”

And so Jesus continues to St Faustina

The greater the sinner, the greater the right he has to My mercy. My mercy is confirmed in every work of My hands. He who trusts in My mercy will not perish, for all his affairs are Mine, and his enemies will be shattered at the base of My footstool

(Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, 723).

And so we see that when a great sinner converts, Jesus will protect them as they journey on the road of conversion!

Now to some this seems totally unfair. It’s almost like Jesus is rewarding their sin and we can’t help but think of the parabol of the prodigal son and the older brother.

But Jesus is not celebrating sin, He ie celebrating His victory over sin and snatching these lost souls from the grips of Satan.

Jesus died for each soul and it makes sense that He’d be overwhelmingly happy when a soul who seemed almost beyond help seeks Him!

Through the weakest and most miserable and helpless souls God has the opportunity to show His power as alone the soul can do absolutely nothing!

I consider myself exactly such a soul, misery itself and I thank God every day for His strength in my weakness!

And so today, take a moment and consider your heart!

Consider the areas where you are hurt and weak and where you feel miserable and sad!

And then, instead of beating yourself up and being hard on yourself recall with a smile of hope what Jesus said to St Faustina

“give Me your misery, because it is your exclusive property”

and allow Jesus to transform your misery into His glory!

Have a glorious day!

Hello all from Medjugorje!

Yesterday I wrote a little about Divine Mercy and my life! Today I continue the theme hoping that Jesus will do for you what He did for me!

So when Jesus appeared to me He told me specifically to go to a town in the very south of France called Toulon!

I knew nothing about the church and was finding my way!

A little while later I was introduced to a religious community in Toulon called “The missionaries of Divine Mercy”.

I visited them on Christmas eve 2008 to ‘come and see’. I stayed for 18 months!

Their charism was evangelization and the divine mercy. Every day we’d be up at 7 ish for morning prayer (laudes) in latin and the rest of the day was divided into prayer and missionary evangelization!

Jesus taught me so much there. We evangelized with the priests in bars, on beaches, we knocked on doors and next to our church was a gay bar where we’d also reach out with a free wine at the church front before they went to the bar!

Every day at 3 pm we recited the divine mercy chaplet for everybody and our daily reading at lunch consisted of sister Faustina’s diary!

Even our bishop would come out with us at times and I’ll never forget going to a gothic bar with Monseigneur Rey!!

When I left France Jesus sent His little Michael to India. Arriving in Chennai with €30 in my pocket. I don’t think I could ever convey the battle in my heart to trust. But as I said yesterday, during these moments you got to trust even when you don’t trust!

After a few months with a french community Jesus sent this little leprechaun to Kerala and to the ‘Divine Mercy Retreat Centre’!

The superiour general took me under his wing as his special guest and for the next 2 months I had the run of the place!

The Divine Retreat Centre is based totally on the divine mercy and is the world’s largest catholic retreat centre. Thousands of people come from every corner of the world for healing and the testimonies are amazing with converted drug addicts and satanists and all!!

After 2 months there Jesus sent this little man to Australia and in Sydney He called me to serving in the Australian branch of the Divine Centre!

During the retreats I’d sit for about 6 hours in front of the Blessed Sacrament where I’d pray for the retreatants and where Jesus would give me some messages which I’d give to the priest!

Through this I learnt even more about the merciful heart of Jesus to heal and His desire to bring people into more and more freedom and love for Him!

It taught me of His desire to reach out, to go beyond boundaries and to bring His message of love and mercy to those who don’t know Him!

They may be covered in Tatoos and their faces may be hard to see behind all their piercings, yet Jesus was thirsting for them!

They might have been dressed in black and even Satanists and yet Jesus was thirsting for them!

They may have been back or white, hindu or atheist and yet Jesus was thirsting for them!

They may have been gay or straight or divorced 5 times and yet Jesus was thirsting for them!

And so Jesus sent me on and now a few years later here I am in Medjugorje at the Divine Mercy centre still talking about the same mercy!

The world over it is the same Jesus, the same mercy, the same message!

How much Jesus smiles when a lost soul comes back and how much He needs each one of us in our own way to be apostles of mercy and healing especially for the younger generation who so often are caught up in the world of sex, drugs and ‘success’.

And so I thank Jesus from the bottom of my heart that from Ireland to France to India to Medjugorje His divine mercy has never let me go and I ask each one of you to pray for my mission to bring the healing hope of Jesus to the broken of the broken all over the world!

May Jesus bless your hearts today with love, peace, healing and joy as your prayers help Him to bring lost broken sheep back home!

Fire!!

Divine Mercy

I first heard of divine mercy in 2008. I was on the verge of suicide and desperate I cried to God to help!

I had an inner vision of Jesus and Mary and with their hands open they saved me.

They began to talk to me through the power of the Holy Spirit and in plain english they told me to leave my career as an actuary and to immediately leave my native Ireland for France.

I visited my parents house a few days before leaving but I did not tell them what I was about to do!

Before leaving I walked into my grandad’s house (‘granda’s ‘ as we called it). I was his favourite and the 80 year age difference between us seemed unimportant.

It was in this old house that I spent my childhood! I learnt to cycle right there on the grass and when I was 15 I painted the house white as it used to be yellowish!

Granda would have me do all sorts. From painting to putting up wall-paper to digging potatoes to sowing flowers! There was always something to do!

Old houses have rats at times too and you can only imagine my excitement as we’d set traps to catch them!

And so as I walked in to say goodbye I felt a wave of emotions. ‘If he could see me now’ I thought and how my life had fallen apart and yet deep down I knew that he could!

Granda and Granny never stopped praying and I knew that they were helping me from heaven!

And so as I left I looked up and on the old shelf over the fire I saw a nice colourful image and I decided to take it as a souvenir. I was about to leave the country and had no idea when or if I’d be back.

The colourful image I picked up was this one:

And besides liking the colours I had no idea what it meant.

My uncle Thomas later gave me a book on the divine mercy and I understood.

“Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet…. My mercy is greater than your sins and those of the entire world.” (Diary entry 699)

I had never heard of Jesus helping a gay person. Was I the first? I didn’t know but what I did know is that Jesus was calling me to trust radically in Him!

I understood very quickly that christianity boiled down to trusting in God for everything and although it sounded easy, it was not!

We get so used to being in control and planning things that we find it difficult to trust!

Overnight I went from an actuary with a massive salary to an utter nobody who claimed to be hearing Jesus!

I went from having an income to having none, from having savings to having none, from having health insurance to having none, from having a pension plan to having none, from having a good reputation to having none!!

And when fear would try to grip me I would pick up this image and looking at His heart say “Jesus, I trust in you”.

There were days and weeks where I’d repeat it thousands of times wondering if He was listening at all and if I could take the pain of being misunderstood!

“I am offering people a vessel with which they are to keep coming for graces to the fountain of mercy. That vessel is this image with the signature: “Jesus, I trust in You”…. The graces of My mercy are drawn by means of one vessel only, and that is — trust. The more a soul trusts, the more it will receive.” (Diary entry 327)

But Jesus always listens and even though it seems that He takes His time every prayer is answered!

Jesus has never let me down and despite terrible trials I am now stronger and happier than ever!

Jesus will never let you down either. You may be praying for a personal intention or struggling with a vice, you may feel that it’s no use and yet He says to you ‘trust’.

Jesus’ mercy is for every situation and every sin. It is for every person and every country and every creed!

And so dear reader, what better way today to glorify Jesus than to speak about and celebrate His mercy and reach out in hope to others who may not have experienced it yet!

So today let us share about the merciful power of Jesus to transform lives and let us continue to bring Him the corners of our hearts where we still struggle to trust Him and to love others without conditions!

“Souls that make an appeal to My mercy delight Me. To such souls I grant even more graces than they ask.” (Diary entry 1146)

Jesus thanks you for helping Him, for every prayer, for every act of trust, for every act of mercy to others!

Jesus, that we may be apostles of your mercy to the furthest corners of the world!

Bless you all from Medjugorje and St Faustina, pray for us!

Michael

P.S. You can download St Faustina’s diary on your smart phone and have it as an app and never be without a word of mercy from Jesus.

Fully healed?

22 Fri Mar 2019

Posted by michael4jesus in All Posts

≈ Comments Off on Fully healed?

How often at times do we ask the Lord to heal us and how often do we get annoyed that He is going so slowly?!

Wouldn’t it be nice to wake up ‘fully healed’. Wouldn’t it be nice to be 100% free of doubts, anger, depression, anxiety, fear, lust, jealousy, pride to name but a few!

It is so very easy to fall into the trap of fear thinking that God can’t love me unless I’m healed, that somehow I must be healed to be pleasing to God who is not at all happy when He spots my broken parts!

But this is not God! God knows that full healing is sanctification and that it is a journey of a lifetime!

For God growing us in holiness is like how we would teach a child to read or write or an adult to drive!

God knows that it takes time and that we need a lot of practise. He knows that we will make 1000 mistakes and yet He also knows that if we persevere each mistake will be turned into a valuable lesson!

So you see, the journey of holiness isn’t about being perfectly healed and holy overnight but rather each day to give it our best shot!

In healing circles there are 2 dangers!

1. To want to be fully healed and so to lose patience. This will cause a person to run around the world receiving healing prayer after healing prayer in a frantic rush to get fully healed.

But inner healing is a little like chemotherapy to a cancer patient! You can’t tell the doctor that you want chemo every day until you’re healed!

The doctor must spread out the treatment over weeks and months for a reason.

And so it is with spiritual healing where Jesus, the divine doctor, spreads out the healing for a reason!

2. The second temptation is maybe worse! ‘God loves me the way I am so I have no need of any inner healing or change! How dare you suggest such a thing’.

This would be like a cancer patient who refuses all treatment and then drops dead a short time afterwards.

And so as usual the solution lies in the middle ground and in accepting that we are all ‘works in progress’.

Some people’s broken parts are more obvious than others and we must be very careful not to fall into pride forgetting that in the Lord’s eyes we may be far more broken ourselves!

And so today dear friends, you may be reading this and be feeling discouraged that you are not fully healed but the Lord smiles on you and says:

“look up child, you may not be fully healed but you are most certainly fully loved”

Have a great day!

Soul care!

21 Thu Mar 2019

Posted by michael4jesus in All Posts

≈ Comments Off on Soul care!

When I was a little boy my mum used to talk about not telling lies and looking after my soul!

If I’m honest she used to annoy me because I could not grasp the notion of my soul.

Sure if it was my leg or my foot I could see it and if it was a kidney or my liver a scan or a blood test could surely show it up but my soul?!!

Mam would say that lying put a black spot on ones’s soul. She tried to explain the notion to me but all I could think of was the sole of my foot!

The other day here an evening preacher paralleled the care we take of our bodies against the care we take of our souls.

Very wisely he described how we will go to a doctor and even go through very painful surgery to get healthy and how at yet at times how we terribly neglect our souls.

I guess it’s because we can’t see our souls like we can see our bodies and so we might think we’re fairly ok when in God’s eyes we are almost dead!

So what to do?

Well unless you get blessed by an extraordinary grace you will not be able to see your soul. However, there is a solution!

Just as a toothache points to a cavity and a stomach pain points to a bug of some kind, so too can we become aware of the state of our souls.

In Australia in the inner healing ministries they’d speak of ‘fruit and root’. So putting it very simply if you see a fruit there must be a root!

So for example if you struggle terribly to be nice to your boss or if you snap at your kids, this bad behaviour points to some area of your soul where there is pain. Maybe at a subconscious level your boss reminds you of your mum or dad who were over-authoritative when you were a child and that part of your memory bank is still hurting.

Some people find it hard to pray to Our Lady. Ask them about their relationship with their mums as a child and usually you find why!

For others it’s God the father. Hear all they will about the loving father welcoming back the prodigal son but all their heart thinks about is that cross or angry dad that never really loved them the way they needed!

The list goes on! Others hate the church or priests from a bad experience.

And so you see once you become aware of this fruit and root concept you will begin to realise how sick your poor soul really is!!

My mum used to ask me

‘How do you go to confession every week, what have you to say?’

I’d smile inside and think ‘plenty’. I could go every hour of every day if I let scruples get in!

And so you see, confession is a healing balm for the soul and is not just about the bad things you did but also about healing the wounded areas of your heart where bad things were perhaps done to you and where God desires to free you.

Satan doesn’t want you to go fishing around in your past in case you’ll get healed! He’ll tell you to repress it and move on because nothing can be done about it but this is a lie!

And so today I’ll leave you with a poem I found written on the door of the healing ministry in Sydney and encourage you all to bring your inner pains to Jesus and to the sacrament of confession regularly and to walk into the life of grace and freedom that Jesus desires for each one of us all.

The pain or the wound

One day my heart was wounded
And the pain was deep and strong.
It’s ache was like a bag of bricks
I couldn’t carry long.

I had two paths to treat the wound.
Two sources of advice.
The first one’s name was Lucifer.
The other’s name was Christ.

The first one gave me bandages
To bind the wound up tight
He told me, “Don’t expose the wound
To water, air or light.”

“Put all your focus on the pain
That’s what we need to heal.
You’ll soon forget your wounded heart
If there’s no pain to feel.”

So he subscribed me pain-killers
And drugs of every kind
Some to escape, some to excite,
And some to dull my mind.

He promised he would kill the pain.
He promised sweet relief.
His promises so promising
They almost begged belief.

But one thing he neglected
In his attractive invitation
Was to tell me of the side-effects
Of all his medication.

See, I have taken his advice
Many times in the past.
I’ve found his pain-killers to work.
They’re cheap and very fast.

But they’re also quite temporary
And with returning pain
Comes deeper wounds, and stronger aches
And isolating shame.

And so this time I think I’ll pass.
I’ll try different advice.
And so I took my wounded heart
And offered it to Christ.

He said although he knew the pain
Was deep and strong and real,
It would not go away until
The wound itself was healed.

And so he started to unwrap
The wound that was bound tight.
He said, “We must expose the wound
To water, air and light.”

He said, “This will be painful
But it is the only way.
I’ll be as gentle as I can.
We’ll take it day by day.”

“I’ll comfort you through every step
I’ll never leave your side
And very slowly I’ll unwrap
Your fear and shame and pride.

Until we reach your wounded heart
Until it is laid bare
The pain will still be present
But the healing will start there.

And in the wound I’ll shine my light
To show what was unseen
And there I’ll pour living water
So pure and fresh and clean.

And with my love and grace and truth
Your heart I will restore
And you will find more freedom
Than you ever had before.

And so Christ is the one I choose
His path is hard but real
Into his hands I place my heart
For only he can heal.

Born to serve!

20 Wed Mar 2019

Good morning!

This morning I was reflecting on God’s humour in my life and how He turns things around!

As a child I started serving mass very young! I was very small and I had to find the smallest soutane.

The church was a small church in a tiny village in the irish countryside!

As you can see there are 2 sides to the church. The women would sit on the left side and the men on the right and as the only door was in the middle, if you were late the whole world knew about it!

The priest was old and my dad used to tell me to be good in case he hit me!

To be fair, I never had a bad experience with a priest as a child.

I still recall the prayer Fr Cahir taught us before leaving the sacristy!

‘Go before us O Lord in this our sacrifice of prayer and praise and grant that what we say and sing with our lips we may believe in our hearts and that what we believe in our hearts we may practice and show forth in our daily lives, through Christ Our Lord, Amen’

A beautiful prayer that went totally over my head at the time!

Fr Cahir was a young priest and he came up with the idea of readers! And we were all asked to read. I was good at reading except at times when I’d read it all too fast! I used to be nervous trying to pronounce those funny names like ”ecclesiasticus’ and I certainly butchered a few of them!

My mum was very proud to see my read and who could blame her!

So there I was at 12 both serving and reading at mass.

” Next you’ll be saying mass Mike” joked the owner of the local shop and that was my biggest fear, that he was right!

Anyway I gave up serving mass at 15 and reading at 18 when I left for college. Free! Never to serve again!!

So can you imagine when 7 years later I found myself in Paris serving mass in latin every Sunday and a year afterwards where I was serving daily mass in Toulon in the south of France and ….you guessed it…I was reading too!

Despite not being French I’d be reading on Sunday mornings to a packed church and serving too!

Was God having a laugh or what!!

I was the only foreigner in that parish and I guess they found my accent cute!

So you see, at times in life God is preparing us for our futures when we have absolutely no idea!

It is only when we read our lives backwards that they will make sense! All the ‘whys’ will turn into ”becauses’ and all the complaints to gratitude!

And so dear reader, you may be going through a phase of your life that you don’t quite understand and yet God is asking you to trust and one day you’ll look back at it and smile and say ‘O, I get it now’!

You too may look back on your life and see now how God was guiding you all along even when you didn’t see it and this will help you to trust Him more in your current trials and difficulties!

And so on that note I’m off to mass where no, I’m not serving or reading, I’m praying!!

Bless your day!
