Here I am in Ennis, Co. Clare, Ireland!
I grew up 12 kilometres or so from here and going to town on a Saturday was a big day out!
I left this area at 18 and never had any time for Ennis or Clare until I lived here 3 years ago!
Now I find it a charming little town and I love the place and the people I know here!
Anyway, that aside, I have a funny story that highlights a spiritual principle! Not to take Our Lady for granted!
When coming back from Medjugorje we had a big statue of Our Lady. When we arrived at the airport they looked at us rather annoyed as it was not in a box and there was another group of irish travellers with a similar statue!
They threw a few broken cardboard boxes at us with some tape and that was it!!
Farm-boy Michael kicked in as it became obvious that we’d miss the flight otherwise!
I broke the boxes, made what looked like a coffin and wrapped it all up with tape like a bale of silage on a wrapper!
The Holy Spirit took me over and anyone would think that I was a pro!
The travellers were impressed and annoyed at my masterpiece and asked me to help them!
10 mins later the 2 statues were wrapped up and ready to fly!
The travellers were praying that they wouldn’t break and they didn’t! We arrived in Belfast and all was perfect!
But then they decided to unwrap the statue at the airport and just left all the cardboard and tape on the ground as if it were a dump!
I could feel God’s disappointment. He had answered their prayers by getting a stranger to wrap the statue and had protected it on the flight and now this!
Ten minutes later we were outside and all of a sudden we heard a loud bang! The statue had fallen of the trolley and was smashed in half!!!!!!😂😂😂😂😂😁😁😁😁
Moral of the story?
Our Lady is no “trolley dolly” to be taken for a ride! Follow her, heed her and let her guide you and she’ll protect you but do your own thing and think she’ll bless it, think again!
So friends, let’s not mess with God and take Him for granted but rather seek His will and His ways!
PS. Our statue is in perfect condition in it’s new home and the wrapping in the bin!!
