Joy in the darkness

Good morning from rather a cold London. Summer certainly seems to have escaped us this year with the cold weather now coming.

Yesterday I was in Alysford. It’s a large Carmelite priory held together now by only a few aging monks.

As I walked about the large property I wondered if like the hot weather if it’s days of glory had not gone.

With fewer and fewer vocations many religious orders such as the Carmelites are left with very large properties which are both expensive and difficult to maintain for an aging community.

Yet that said we had a very fervent bus load of pilgrims with an entire day dedicated to the divine mercy.

At times it seems that God keeps doing new things and raising up new devotions and ways of prayer such as the divine mercy, the charismatic renewal and Medjugorje while letting some of the preexisting ones decline and even die out.

I’m not by any means predicting the future of the Carmelites and yet common sense would say that without a serious renewal that like weather today, it looks bleak.

Interestingly I also received a locution while I was there yesterday from Our Lady and she too spoke to me about the challenging times ahead.

“Our Lady

My little child, the coldness you feel today is like the coldness God feels from so many of His children who do not know him and despite plea after plea, warning after warning, refuse to change their lives and embark on the heavenly journey of sanctification.

Imagine a world without light where everyone is lost and crash into eachother. That is how your world is today spiritually with chaos at every turn.

My children, what unimaginable darkness you live in and how instead of valuing the little light that you have left, how it is being searched out and extinguished in an effort to live in total darkness.

Satan desires earth to be like hell in the same was as God desires earth to be a foretaste of heaven.

My little ones, be not fooled by Satan my adversary who promotes a type of human happiness without God. Just like a piece of cheese is used to trap and kill an innocent moose is this strategy being used to drive humanity further to its peril.

Do not lose hope because Satan underestimates my intervention and his inevitable failure.

I call my chosen ones to prayer, to sacrifice and to trusting while things grow darker and darker and while it seems that heaven is doing nothing.

Just when all will seem lost will the powers of heaven be stirred and will my reign, the reign of my immaculate heart come.

Fear nothing my little flock but trust in your blessed mother in all things.“

I read this message myself a few times as I reflected on it. On one hand Our Lady is calling those of us who have placed ourselves under her mantle to be joyful and to trust because she is protecting us. On the other hand she’s telling us that things are going to get darker and darker in the world with Satan raging to take as much control as he can.

These type of messages aren’t really what we’d like to hear humanly speaking. We’d like to hear something like “everything is going to be fine, relax and don’t worry” while instead we are hearing “everything will not be fine at all but consecrate yourselves to me, convert your hearts and pray and I will protect you”.

Yet there is one very strong message that Our Lady is saying and also that was reportedly said in Medjugorje just a few days ago and that is to be joyful.

If we have given our lives to Jesus and if we are following Him every day and doing our best then Our Lady is telling us not to be afraid but to be joyful. Those that should be afraid are those that refuse to pray, refuse to convert and those who are lukewarm with their spiritual lives.

And so let us be honest with ourselves and ask ourselves where we are at, which group we are in and let us resolve once again to give our lives to God and to prayer and to joyfully shield ourselves in His mercy under the mantle of Mary while the darkness continues to envelope our world.

Have a wonderful day and may everything we do be pleasing to our most beautiful mother, Our Lady.

Pilgrimage of mercy

Hello to everyone!

This morning I had an early start as the Holy Spirit called me on a little pilgrimage to Aylesford organised by a polish group of priests here in London.

My guardian angel woke me up at 6am and I had just enough time to shower, cycle to Shepherd’s Bush where I was meeting my friend Eddie and jump on the central line to Ealing Broadway where the coach was leaving.

I still use no watch or alarm as Jesus has always asked me to rely entirely on Him and His timing!!

Anyway as Jesus would have it we arrived just on time and one of the pilgrims offered to pay for my ticket (£30). It’s amazing how as we step out in faith how Jesus steps in!!

So here we are on the bus with a really nice prayerful group and a fun youthful priest from Poland….praise God!!

The Aylesford priory is run by the Carmelites and to be honest I don’t know much more about it! I’ll tell you tomorrow once I find out.

Yet all the fun and adventure aside, today is a day of work too, working for Jesus.

It is so easy to forget that prayer can be work too and as we go on pilgrimages and pray masses and rosaries etc. for our families and the world that in Gods eyes this is just as important and more as the business executives dressed in their suits and ties!

Often in today’s world we need to remind ourselves of this reality as the voices of the world try to tell us that everything is about being productive and contributing to society in tangible ways that usually do not include prayer or any love or mention of Jesus.

And so on that note I will finish for today! No matter what your situation and regardless of where you are or what clothes you wear or car you drive, remember that in God’s eyes that you have great dignity and that today you can unite your life and prayers to His divine mercy which in the light of eternity will contribute far more to the world than a top professional executive who in all his intelligence has forgotten about his soul.

“Jesus, have mercy on us and on the whole world.”

Prayers promised for you all!

Save the pigeon

≈ Comments Off on Save the pigeon

Last week after mass as I was talking to the parish priest in a nearby church a woman approached us in hysterics.

“Have you got a ladder? Have you got a ladder, there is a trapped pigeon over there and I need a ladder to save him. Have you got a ladder?”

Now these are the situations where one has to think twice before speaking because while at a personal level perhaps we were unconcerned about a trapped pigeon but because we were standing at the church porch, we were also representing God and Christianity.

Now to be honest I am not an animal lover and even if I was, the pigeon would be towards the bottom of the ladder. They seem like quite dirty birds, some call them “rats with wings” and in France there is an expression ‘c’est un pigeon’ which means “it’s a pigeon” but colloquially means “that person is an imbecile”!

So in summary the poor old pigeon is neither known for brains or beauty.

Yet going beyond my personal feelings on the matter I could see that this woman was deeply concerned and charity demanded me to at least show some empathy.

The parish priest was unable to give her a ladder and very upset she shouted:

‘And you are the church and you won’t save a pigeon …well GOD BLESS YOU TOO”

    As as she stormed off.

Both the priest and I stood there slightly amused at the over-reaction and yet with a certain compassion for the poor lady.

After saying my goodbyes to the priest I noticed that across the road she had managed to find a ladder and so I decided to risk getting told off to help her.

I offered to hold the ladder and she was very grateful. She pointed out the trapped pigeon which of course provided the perfect analogy to talk about God, about suffering and about life!

One of the best ways to evangelise is to talk to people about God using something that they know already and are passionate about. If this meant saving a pigeon then it was worth it!

Now in the end the ladder was too short and we did not save the pigeon but that wasn’t the point. This simple act of kindness put a smile on her face and witnessed to her the love and care of Jesus.

Every day we will be faced with many of these types of opportunities. It happens to me all the time. And each one is an opportunity to die to ourselves and to reach out in love into another person’s reality.

It takes enormous patience as people get worked up and bothered by all sorts of things that may seem insignificant to us but yet isn’t that what loving others is all about?!

So the next time that you are in church and maybe someone comes in with a cat or a dog or on the phone or they start singing or praying out loud….take a deep breath and instead of telling them off why not smile and say “that’s a lovely cat or dog or song or tattoo….can you tell me more?”.

Soon enough you’ll discover another child of God and your welcome and love may be an important witness in bringing them a step closer to Jesus.

And so today let us try to be like carrier pigeons, carrying the love, joy, compassion and patience of Jesus to everyone we meet as we go about our daily lives and may we ask that famous doctor of the church, St.Therese of the child Jesus to help us as we endeavour to do the ordinary things in an extraordinary way.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Homosexuality & the priesthood

    27 Fri Aug 2021

≈ Comments Off on Homosexuality & the priesthood

It’s Friday and that day that I always seem to pray for priests that little but more.

Today’s posting is a delicate one because it’s about a very current issue; gay priests. Recently there has been quite a bit of a stir about gay priests being found on grindr (a gay meeting app).

Again this topic is one of those very delicate ones as God is love, mercy and truth and while he loves his priests regardless of their sexual orientation, he also desires to bring them to the truth and to live Holy lives.

When in Medjugorje some years back Jesus spoke to me about this topic very clearly. At a first glance it may seem harsh but perhaps the language used is also to reflect the seriousness of this subject.

    Jesus

My dear child, trust in my protection. I am placing people around you to help you.

One of the greatest evils within the priesthood is the widespread practice of homosexual activity. ‘Love the sinner, hate the sin’ is as valid today as ever. The sin is not in having homosexual desires, the sin is acting on them and in many cases acting on them and refusing church teaching that it is sinful.

Sexual sin stains the soul like no other and any priest living an active homosexual life cannot have a close relationship with the Holy Spirit.

Jesus has infinite mercy on His priests. However there is no mercy without truth which is why again and again we are calling our priests back to the truth. The practice of homosexuality is evil, very evil and it is highly offensive to the Father who desires the best for His children.

I desire not to elaborate any more on this point. The truth is plain and simple! Continue to pray for your priests and world which grows ever darker.

Worry not about your future, you are secure in my hands. “

Now it’s worth breaking this down a bit. Jesus is referring specifically here to priests who live sexually active gay lives and do not see the problem. They don’t go to confession about it, they don’t see it as sinful and they laugh at the notion of chastity.

There may be many gay priests out there struggling with chastity and falling at times but Jesus is not referring to them here. Anyone who is struggling or fighting for sexual purity is pleasing to Jesus and He will never stop forgiving and helping them as long as they are sincere and persevere on their journey to holiness, picking themselves up every time they fall.

Jesus also says that one cannot have a close relationship with the Holy Spirit and practice such a lifestyle. What he means here is that the power and drive of homosexuality is strong and often people who jump into that lifestyle get very driven by sexual desires and of course then this forms a kind of obsession, blocking them from the call of the Holy Spirit to prayer etc.

Anyway, it is what it is! I’m just the messenger at the end of the day but let’s remember that God is love and mercy and he desires to call all his priests back onto the right track and especially His chosen priests.

So today, let us pray for gay priests who are either struggling or have abandoned the call to sexual purity. That they may receive the graces of wisdom, fortitude, perseverance and repentance for all sexual sins committed as priests and most of all that they may trust even more in the mercy of Jesus who is always ready to forgive have give us a fresh start.

    Death is all about us

≈ Comments Off on Death is all about us

Death, death death….it seems that wherever we turn that we are faced with death these days.

Death from Covid, death from vaccinations, deaths in Afghanistan…

What is God telling us because it’s not science-fiction, we’re not at the movies, it’s not a dream….this is real life and not only that but one day it will be you and I!

As I sat in church yesterday after a funeral God spoke to about death. This is what He said:

    “Heavenly Father

My dear child. Times of death are also great times of grace.

Grace to thank God for the gift of life, grace to restructure one’s life and reorder one’s priorities, grace to repent, to reconcile and to start again.

How few people turn to me in spite of death touching them directly and how many harden even more after the death of a friend or a loved one.

My little one, have no fear of death because for a true believer death is something to be looked forward to with hope and joy.

Only attachment to worldly things block this joy.

Today I ask you to pray for the families who lost loved ones, that they will commend them and their own lives to my love and mercy and no longer fear that inevitable day when they too will be called.“

And so it seems that death is all about us like a giant mirror begging us to wake up and get ready.

Our heavenly father is imploring us to be wise, to convert our lives today, to go back to him, to go back to the church, to go back to prayer and to have our lives in order for that inevitable day just like Pedro who devoted his life to Jesus and died of cancer at such a young age

God is also clearly saddened that despite all these warnings and reminders all around us that so few people actually change and convert. In fact he describes the opposite happening and that they get even harder.

Who are we to judge? Nobody! However what we can do is pray and preach and witness by our lives and examples that death is something amazing and wonderful for the man who is reconciled and prepared but is a woeful day for those who have ignored the signs and will meet their maker empty handed.

So let’s pray for conversions of more hearts as we look forward to the day that we will go home to Dad.

    Blessings to all!

    Celibacy & the priesthood

≈ Comments Off on Celibacy & the priesthood

    Good morning!

Well it comes as a surprise to nobody that the whole are of sexuality and the priesthood has come under a lot of fire in recent years especially with all the scandals etc.

Years ago it was perhaps naively assumed that once ordained, a priest had no more sexual desires as if somehow they had disappeared as the bishop ordained him. This type of naive thinking ultimately did no favours to either the priest or the people as inevitably the truth would come out some day….

Anyway Our Lady spoke to me about some of these issues some years ago when I lived in Medjugorje. In fact as I recall I spent 6 months almost praying exclusively for priests when I lived there and suffering the consequences too!!!

Satan hates when we pray for priests and he wasn’t long in finding ways to attack me through misunderstandings and gossip and more but nonetheless I persevered and Our Lady looked after me through one of her chosen priests and a few other good people.

Ok ok, I’ll share now what Our Lady said:

    “Our Lady

Thank you for writing, be at peace. Many others are aware of these issues.

One of the biggest crisis hitting the priesthood today is the crisis of celibacy. Many people and even many priests and Bishops no longer believe in celibacy. They believe that without sexual intimacy that a priest cannot be happy and is bound to live a life of unfulfillment and loneliness.

Once again my child this is the fruit of the main crisis in the Church, the crisis of faith! More attention is paid nowadays to modern day ‘experts’ in psychology than experts in the spiritual life. Psychology largely excludes the spiritual and paints all human beings in the same light.

The man called to the priesthood cannot be treated the same as the man called to marriage. God will never ask someone to do something without giving the grace to do it!

With a true life of prayer, celibacy is not only possible but can be truly joyful and even more fulfilling than married life. Spiritual intimacy is over and above sexual intimacy which is why Jesus said that in heaven you will be like angels.

Spiritual transformation, a real living relationship with Jesus through the Holy Spirit is the solution to priestly fullfullment and satisfaction!

Let those who can hear understand. There will be many scoffers but be reassured that if the souls of priests in purgatory could come back and minister on earth again they would shout from the rooftops the importance of trusting in the tradition of the Church and returning to prayer and repentance on the narrow road to the kingdom.

Be not afraid. Nobody has ever been disappointed who followed my instructions and eternal rewards in heaven with God.

    Pray, pray for your priests.

    Queen of priests “

In this short message Our Lady isn’t saying that celibacy is easy but she is saying that it is both possible and fulfilling for the priest who is called to it.

She is warning us not to compare the priesthood to marriage and to use modern day psychology to explain away celibacy but rather to seek correct spiritual direction and guidance from experts in these fields and to leave the scoffers to her!

And so today let us pray for all priests struggling with their vows of celibacy, that they may receive the right help, support and spiritual direction and become the happy priests that Jesus and Mary desire them to be.

    Bless your day,

    Michael

    The garden of your souls

≈ Comments Off on The garden of your souls

    “Jesus

    My child. Continue to write!

The human heart is like a garden with many different types of plants. Due to the effect of original sin, the soil starts off arid and prone to the growth of weeds but through baptism I pour fresh waters on these soils and begin planting beautiful flowers.

The flowers are the fruits of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self control.

In the early years souls are too small to water the garden of their own souls which is why they need the loving help and support of their parents who teach them just as they help them to walk.

Prayer and perseverance are essential and the most important ingredient is holiness of the people around them. Just as little children learn their native language through imitation, holiness is also picked up more from example than from lessons.

As the child grows older he/she learns to look after his/ her own garden through simple things like prayer, forgiveness and acts of charity.

Any garden that isn’t looked after will sadly become a garden of weeds or a garden or sin.

The hose pipe that waters the garden is the human mind. With the mind you can chose to pour living waters on the gardens of your souls through prayer, spiritual reading and holy thoughts.

However with the mind you can also chose to pour hardening concrete on your souls in the form of every sort of unholy readings and imagery imaginable.

The result is that either your soul will become a beautiful garden of mature and beautiful flowers or it will become a hardened pit of evil.

And this my children is where you must be on your guard and where you must be vigilant because no soul becomes holy or unholy without the consent of the person in question.

Yes my children, even Satan cannot force you to sin although he can do very much to encourage you and similarly even though I be God without your ‘yes’ I will force none of you to go to heaven.

And so you see my little children. I have given you freedom and choice and a soul to care for just like a garden.

Be not afraid! Even the hardest concrete can be broken through the power of reconciliation and forgiveness. It is never too late to start again.

I implore you to dedicating your lives to holiness for the garden you sow on earth is the same garden that you will look after in eternity.

Come back to me with all your hearts and I will teach you how to be magnificent and beautiful souls of fresh and healing virtues bringing love and life to all.”

    The gift of understanding

≈ Comments Off on The gift of understanding

    Good morning from London!

A few days ago I participated in an afternoon divine mercy retreat in Tyburn convent. Upon arrival I noticed that there was just one other man and the rest of the participants were ladies who were all about my mum’s age.

Things got off to a dodgy start as I accidentally hit someone with the door who jokingly replied “it’s ok because you are good-looking” and seeing that she had a good sense of humour I smiled and said “let’s get married”!

Anyway her friend looked at me very sternly and said “she’s a married woman”!!!

Already the Lord was showing me how misunderstandings can cause enormous division even over the smallest of things.

Anyway as the day went on I prayed a lot for the ladies and of course more than one of them had already put a collar on me and ordained me a priest. They were so sweet and when they thought I was about 21 I loved them even more!

The priest was a polish priest from the divine mercy apostolate. He was young, good humoured and enthusiastic and honestly he did a great job.

During the mass he invited us all to pray out loud for our intentions and I felt Jesus prompting me to pray for the LGBT community.

I was a bit nervous. Some of these old ladies might be like vultures if I talk about gays out loud in Tyburn Convent close to where the martyrs died? And as usual I was alone and the “only gay in the village” that I knew of!

I said a prayer and went for it.

“Jesus, please bless all gay, lesbian and transgender people who may feel rejected and unloved and struggling to find their place in the church and society. Bless also their parents who may be worried and struggling too”.

The ground did not shake, the ceiling did not fall in, lightening did not fall from the sky and more significantly not a single head turned.

“There goes their hopes of me becoming a priest” I thought as I calmed myself!!

I guess over the years I’ve been often quite hurt by some of these older catholics who don’t always understand the gay issue so I offered the mass for them and for any healing I needed too.

After the mass the lady whom I’d hit with the door earlier in the day came to talk to me. She told me her testimony. She’d been a chronic alcoholic for years, she’d been put in hospital with the key thrown away after multiple nervous breakdowns and then she met Jesus through the legion of Mary and now to use her own words ” I’m so happy”!

I told her about my own breakdowns and about being catholic and gay and I could only feel love, mercy and acceptance from her.

She went on to tell me that the first time that she met a gay person was only recently when her nephew came with his partner. She said “I don’t have much understanding but as soon as I met them I knew I had to love them”.

She was so sweet and humble as she acknowledged that it’s an area where she hadn’t received much education or understanding and yet her heart told her that she was not to judge but to love.

And of course as Our Lady would have it, she is a big Medjugorje supporter and invited me to a Medjugorje prayer meeting held monthly in her church.

Last night I went to a special mass for gay Catholics after which an irish man spoke to me. Again of the same generation he went on to tell me that when he was young one would get immediately fired from a job for being gay even if they were single or whatnot.

Through these experiences I kept feeling Jesus whispering the word “understanding” in my ear and for us not to be too quick to say “she’s homophobic or he’s transphobic” because often people are only saying and doing what they heard or saw and have had nobody to really explain these issues to them from a catholic and pastoral perspective.

And so today I give thanks to these ladies who have hearts of gold and who pray unceasingly for us all. Sure they might say the wrong thing at times and get hold of the wrong end of the stick but yet their hearts are in the right place and all they really want is to see all young people love Jesus go to heaven!

So today let us pray for the gift of understanding regardless of whether we are old or young so that divisions and misunderstandings be broken down and that we can all come together and praise and worship Jesus who is the way, the truth and the life!

    Blessings to all!

    Wealth and holiness

≈ Comments Off on Wealth and holiness

A few days ago I was invited to a little evening of prayer held be a certain religious organisation which I won’t name.

The people were friendly, the talk was good and interesting and the prayer was fervant. And yet one thing disturbed me greatly, the overwhelming richness and luxury of the house which reminded me of Downton Abbey!!

Anyway yesterday I found myself at Tyburn convent where there was a divine mercy afternoon and as I sat in adoration Jesus spoke to me about poverty and riches and holiness.

    “Jesus (at Tyburn convent)

Write my child and trust even if what I tell you causes you suffering and rejection.

One cannot serve God and mammon or as you might say in your culture “to have your cake and eat it.

Material riches are an enormous obstacle to true holiness for so many reasons

    1. Unholy attachment. How many people with new cars will not give a poor man a lift in case he might smoke or stain the seats with his coat?! How many will not invite the poor to their houses for similar reasons? These cars and houses become prisons of pride and fortresses to keep me out! I am always present in the poor.

    2. Pride. How many pride themselves on their houses and cars and spend unprecedented amounts of money maintaining these things while others go hungry? I do not begrudge my people nice houses and cars but I do expect them to share with those less fortunate. Anything that one cannot share becomes an idol.

    3. Rejection. When poor and disadvantaged souls come into contact with the rich they automatically feel shame and rejection and a sense of failure. When riches and possessions are lorded over others as a sign of success then they become instruments of evil which batter the spirits of the poor.

My dear children. I was born in a stable. My mother who is now the queen of heaven did not live the life of a queen on earth but that of a servant! How do some of you justify your lavish lifestyles in the name of holiness?

Whether rich or poor I call you all to detachment from material things and to a love for the poor and the marginalised.

Please my children, come back to the simplicity of the gospel and look to the lives of countless saints who gave up rich and lavish lifestyles to gain crowns of glory in heaven.“

Now more than ever as Christians we need to practice what we preach because this is the best form of evangelisation and witness to the living Jesus present in our hearts and lives and we will only find the strength and grace to do this through prayer.

And so today, let us pray to the saints such as mother Theresa to help us to detach from all the material things that hold us back from giving our lives more fully to Jesus and more fully to others.

‘Jesus, help us to be generous with all things”

    The gift of the priesthood!

    21 Sat Aug 2021

≈ Comments Off on The gift of the priesthood!

Yesterday was Friday and as I sat in Eucharistic Adoration at Saint Mary of the Angels Our Lady spoke to me about the gift of the priesthood.

    “The gift of the priesthood

    Our Lady

Write my child and be not afraid!

The priesthood is an extraordinary gift bestowed by God on certain souls. This gift is free just as I was freely given the gift of being the mother of Jesus.

Every unmerited gift must lead the recipient of the gift to both gratitude and humility.

No priest was ever chosen by God because he was better than anybody else. It is a free and utterly unmerited gift.

Like every gift, there is a cost or responsibility involved. A mother who has a child must make many sacrifices to raise the child and yet when she does this with love, the sacrifices seem ever so small in comparison to the gift.

The priesthood is similar. When a man fully understands the gift of the priesthood then the cost and the sacrifices involved seem small.

Sadly Satan sets to work in discouraging my priests by undermining their priesthood and exaggerating the sacrifices involved just like he did to your first parents.

This is where my priests must keep close to me, they must keep close to Jesus and they must keep focused on who they are and the extraordinary and important nature of their mission.

How I desire my priests to know their significance, to know and understand the importance of their positions, to understand and to believe in the power of their prayers and the value of their teachings.

Many of my priests are at the point of despair. They have been worn down and confused by the cloud of doubt and compromise all over your world and church.

They have become like polluted water, no good to drink and dangerous to others.

Do not judge my children. I desperately desire to restore these priests, to heal their hearts and minds and to clarify their thinking. I desire to make them like fresh living waters that refresh all those who meet them.

This is why I ask you to pray for my priests and to be aware of the snares that some of them have fallen into.

You may wonder why I ask simply lay people to pray for my priests, people who have received a lot less education than my priests.

The answer is simple: simplicity. Much education has led to much confusion and doubt. I delight in choosing simple and uneducated lay people to call my shepherds back to the simplicity of their mission, love.

Pray, pray, pray my little children. Pray for your priests and let not your hearts get discouraged for I your heavenly mother have a plan that will restore my son’s church to holiness and prayer.

I bless you my little children and thank each one of you who humbly and quietly respond to my motherly messages.

    Our Lady,

    Mother of priests“

And so today with this in mind, let us pray and make little offerings and sacrifices for priests that they may be Holy and full of the love of God and the sacraments and bring as many people as possible to lives of holiness and wholeness.

Let us pray in particular for those priests who have become lost or are struggling with their vocations in these times. May Jesus and Mary heal them in hearts and minds and open them to understanding how much they are treasured by God.

And finally a prayer for those priests who left the priesthood and who never really understood with their hearts the gift that they were given. That they will find peace in their hearts and be healed of all bitterness, regrets, shame etc.

    Have a great day!

    Michael
