As you know I was inspired in prayer to begin street ministry a few weeks ago and last night we tried it for the first time down on Kensington High Street!
It was really good fun, extremely liberating and we got lots of smiles and looks as we sang and preached about the love of God for all with our LGBT flag!!🏳️🌈
To be honest the list is endless when it comes to street ministry because it could be mixed with everything from art to party tricks to comedy while simultaneously bringing people to prayer.
Evangelisation often involves straggling between the secular and the sacred as one reaches out to people using concepts and language that they understand to then bring them to know the love of God and the message of Jesus.
It’s a tricky balance to find and in reality no matter what one does there will always be someone complaining and moaning because that’s the way people are and that’s also the cross of being in ministry.
On the other hand it’s also the feedback that helps us to grow and to find the happy medium and to reassure the conservative Catholics that we are not heretics while reassuring the unbelievers that there are also nice people in the church. 😀 😊 😄
In any case we are only getting started but it was super and if anyone would like to come and join us or knows of a good spot, please get in touch! The more the merrier!
It was also a great way to hand out more flyers and to make ourselves more known and visible and like anything else, the first step was the hardest which is why I was really delighted yesterday when I took the bull by the horns and said ‘guys, let’s just do it, after mass in the Carmelites in Kensington’.
Séamus was fantastic singing and preaching and then Rayne joined in to sing for Jesus! It was amazing.
Now in due course of time it’d be amazing to have Toni with some of his art and the transgender flag and we need a large poster image of Our Lady of Medjugorje and perhaps a large cross also to make the catholic side visible to all as well as the LGBT side.
It will fall into place over time and in any case, the important thing isn’t the quality of the singing or art but it’s about bringing people to Jesus through the love of Our Lady of Medjugorje.
So massive thanks to all who are helping us through prayer and friendship and financial support too.
Please continue to spread the word about next Wednesday evening and if you’d like to leave us a donation to help with our expenses you can do so by following the link below.
Have a wonderful day and may the name of Jesus be praised all over the world!
